While at Stantec Consulting, James Mazak was the planning lead for the Banff Centre Area Redevelopment Plan. The Banff Centre is a 17.597 hectare campus located within the Town of Banff which is surrounded by Banff National Park.
The purpose of the Area Redevelopment Plan was to identify and provide viable planning solutions to enable The Banff Centre to continue to evolve over time. This Area Redevelopment Plan reflected current legislation, statutory plans, policies, and guidelines from three levels of government. Mr. Mazak utilized his planning knowledge and understanding of mountain communities in order to secure The Banff Centre’s evolution into an institution of excellence and higher learning within Canada’s oldest national park.
